About me

I graduated from The Masaryk University in Brno, The Czech Republic, where I participated in a Master Program English Language Teaching for Secondary Schools. I am a holder of international language proficiency certificates of C2 level, specifically CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera).
Between 1997 and 2005, I taught at various primary schools and since 2005 I have been cooperating with numerous language schools and agencies as a tutor. I have taught students of all age-groups and a great variety of jobs, such as office workers, managers, doctors, lawyers, and politicians, but also soldiers, policemen and security personnel.
Besides teaching, I dedicate myself to the translation of books, mainly, but not exclusively, of the sci-fi and fantasy genre.

My teaching principles
- In my school, there are no classrooms. I teach online, wherever you want to be taught. You wouldn´t believe the places where some people prefer to learn.
- In my school, there are no tests. You will write none unless you insist. Tests take time to prepare and to correct. Why make so much effort in doing something that nobody needs and that serves no practical purpose.
- In my school, I don´t assign homework. I offer homework as a service to my students. I try to make them interesting and useful, but if you don´t feel like doing them, that´s fine for me.
- In my school, there is no headmaster. If I have no use for tests and homework, I need a boss even less, thank you very much. I´ll go on teaching as I see fit and as my clients wish.
- In my school, it is the student who sets the rules. I am a tutor and most of my students are adult people who know what they want. We´ll sit down and talk. If it´s in my power, I will make their wish come true. If what they wish makes no sense to me, I´ll tell them so. If they insist, I will do it, and maybe I´ll find out that they were right.
- In my school, it´s alright to make mistakes. A mistake is students´ best friend. I neither punish nor mock student for their mistakes. I am grateful for them. They show me what I need to teach, and they show my students what they need to learn. If my students were perfect, they wouldn´t need me, after all.
- In my school, the lessons start when my students wish. Within reason.
- In my school, the only person evaluating you is yourself. I am a teacher. I am no judge. I will teach you for as long as you wish, and as long as you feel content with your progress. I guess you can tell if you feel happy, can´t you?
